According to a recent consumer satisfaction survey of more than 6,600 credit card users, Discover and American Express are the most "satisfying" credit card companies in America. The 2015 U.S. Credit Card Satisfaction Report from Credio is the first of its kind from the organization, but its top results are almost identical to the latest J.D. Power survey.

Users in the Credio study were asked to rank their credit card issuer on a five point scale, with five being "extremely satisfied" and one being "extremely dissatisfied". Respondents ranked the banks based on customer service, rewards, fees, issuer and overall credit card satisfaction. The results of the survey:

1. Discover                   4.23
2. American Express       4.18
3. Barclays                   4.05
4. U.S. Bank                 3.98
5. Chase                      3.96
6. Wells Fargo               3.85
7. Capital One               3.83
8. Bank of America         3.80
9. Citibank                    3.80

Satisfied participants were asked which features played the biggest role in their satisfaction. 41.86% said it was rewards, while 38.56% said it was quality customer service. 37.21% said low fees and rates also played a part in their satisfaction levels, while only 8.66% indicated they cared about innovative online options.

Nearly half the participants (48.07%) indicated the primary reason they selected their credit card was because of benefits and rewards. Having an existing account with the credit card issuer was another significant reason, with 35.3% users citing this as a decision factor.
